My first attempt to open a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document on my iPhone :

I started off by downloading an app to help me out. I didn’t want to mess around so I went right for the QuickOffice Mobile app. I haven’t spent much time using the app, I simply dove right in to trying to view the file I wanted. I had previously created an invoice template that I have been using for some time. I created the invoice template by using one of the premade templates available. I began by mounting the iPhone to my Vista machine to connect it to the QuickOffice network drive so I could transfer files. I mapped the drive and copied over the invoice with no problems. When I opened the 2007 word document, my old sales invoice, I immediately notice that it had lost most of its formatting. Now I wasn’t expecting the app to be Microsoft word 2007, however I was hoping it would at least render the document the same as it supports that file type. I guess opening is just opening, viewing is totally different.

So my hunt continues to find an app that can display 2007 Word Documents.

My goal was to view the invoice in such a way as to allow me to screen capture it and send it as a fax if I was not at my computer.

If anyone knows of a good app for this, or an alternate approach, please let me know! In the mean time I will continue my search and inform you of my progress.
